  • Ep. 101: Happy Town
    Apr 5 2025

In What I've Been Watching, I chat about the 2018 Jon Hamm, Catherine Keener release "Nostalgia," which I found available for viewing at the Uintah County Library in Vernal, UT. Great space, and very cool show!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 101st episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings.

First, heading toward my eighth anniversary doing this podcast, I'm trying to build some engagement. I posted an 11th installment of "VideoFuzzy: The Video - Celebrating 100 Episodes!" at https://youtu.be/eWfcCDiOZ2I. Please share as you're able to with anyone you feel might enjoy this production. Also, most of my recent episodes have posted with promos, so those are also available to share freely. And you have to scroll all the way down, but there are more general promos posted at https://videofuzzy.libsyn.com. Enjoy!

This set covers discs 1801 to 1825 in my Classic Collection. For my Fuzzy Feature, from Disc 1818 I pulled up the "Parks and Recreation" second season episode "94 Meetings," and traced Cross Connections for Dan Butler, Jane McGregor, Robert Englund, Timothy Olyphant, Zeljko Ivanek, Robert Picardo, Tony Hale, John Barrowman, Diane Farr, Stephen Weber, Larry Widmore, Ted Bagley, Julie Benz, Krinstin Chenowith, Martha Plimpton, Yeardley Smith and Alex Kingston, plus from "Eli Stone" and elsewhere, I celebrate Golden Thread Loretta Devine.

In my Classic Collection, I call up my 2010 "TV is the New Reading" podcast commentary on "Happy Town." David Tennant and Patrick Stewart shared the stage in a PBS "Great Performances" production of "Hamlet." Plus comments on "Doctor Who," "Fringe," "The Crying Game" from 1992, and I highlighted insights by fellow podcaster Terry Geo's "Refracted World" at Refracted World "Love is Love Legally" at https://bit.ly/3RoEg0L. Also, "Damages," "Mercy," "South Park," "The Office," "Community," "The Simpsons," OKGO on "The Colbert Report," "Minnesota Original" and on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Jon hilariously simulated capping the BP oil spill.

In What I've Been Watching, comments on the pilot episode of "Continuum," plus "Captain America: Brave New World," Trey Parker's "Orgazmo," the 2003 Edie Falco pilot of "Fargo," you can find a copy of that posted here: https://bit.ly/4jdNPMb. Also, Jon Hamm and Catherine Keener in the 2018 production of "Nostalgia," and the six-episode 2023 Netflix production of "Queen Charlotte." Happy viewing!

Hiya! I'm Terry J. Aman, host of VideoFuzzy, your source for media, commentary and nostalgia, and in ep. 101, titled "Happy Town," I talk about that short-run 2010 mystery series which, along with the unaired 2003 pilot episode of "Fargo," made two Minnesota-based mysteries I encountered featuring bodies discovered in ice houses. Comments on "South Park," "Parks and Rec," "The Crying Game," David Tennant as "Hamlet," Matt Smith as "Doctor Who," plus "Continuum," "Captain America," "Orgazmo" and "Queen Charlotte," and The Daily Show's Jon Stewart demonstrates a practical reconstruction of capping the BP oil spill. • Ep. 100: The Bones in Witness Protection
    Mar 15 2025

Putting together VideoFuzzy ep. 100 -- coffee certainly helps!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 100th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings.

This set covers discs 1751 to 1800 in my Classic Collection. I open with a project overview highlighting some of my finds. For my Fuzzy Feature, I encountered the 100th episode of "Bones" that recalled the first case Booth and Bones worked on together. I found a similar story construction in "In Plain Sight," and talked about that one as well.

Under Cross Connections I trace Golden Threads Todd Giebenhain and, later, Michael Shamus Wiles. Also, appearances by Amy Acker, Lee Majors, Kathy Najimy, Bryan Batt, Alan Ruck, Stephen Root, Katie Sackhoff, Mark Bergeron, Angela Bassett, Sarah Silverman, Rita Moreno, Dana Delany, Sheryl Crow, Mary Pat Gleason, Marc A. Sheppard, Charlotte Arren, Johnny Broderick, Cyd Cherise, Fred Astaire, Jane Lynch, Olivia Munn and Brian Skala. And under Fond Reflections, love for Michelle Trachtenberg of "Buffy," "Mercy" and "Six Feet Under," and I share some headcanon from an "Angel" chat group I was in.

In Video Outreach, I share comments from author and fellow podcaster Kemper Donovan on my review of "Loose Lips," available here: https://bit.ly/3C11ENN Kemper hosts the "All About Agatha" podcast here: https://bit.ly/43j4hnB

Then I chat with my sister, Patti Ellingson, about shows we've enjoyed, including "Doctor Who," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Bridgerton" and "Stranger Things." I know I've mentioned my sister's influence on my television viewing different times over the course of this production, and this felt like a fantastic opportunity to chat with her directly. So much fun!

In my Classic Collection, I take almost a disc-by-disc deep dive on what I was finding in this set, beginning with a third meet-cute storyline I encountered in this set: the first season finale of "Human Target."

Also, comments on "Arrested Development," "The Simpsons," "FlashForward," "Archer," "24," "Caprica," "Community," "Mercy," "Ugly Betty," "Parks and Recreation," "Justified," 2002 and 2005 MTV Movie Award shows, "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report," "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" C-SPAN coverage of the Affordable Care Act, "Breaking Bad," "The Big Bang Theory," "Jawbreaker," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" "Batman Returns," "The Three Faces of Eve," "Sybil," Union activity at The Minot Daily News, "Star Trek Voyager," "Fawlty Towers," "Monty Python's Flying Circus," commercials and music videos, "LOST," "Cougar Town," "Castle," "Fringe," "Chuck," "Broadway Melody of 1940," "Silk Stockings," "V" and "Damages."

Also surfacing in this cataloging effort I found home movies, including a one-act presented at the Carnegie Center in Minot in 2002 or so called "Excerpts." Friends of mine read from books in my collection: https://bit.ly/3DslFO6 It's a bit silly, but if you think of books on your shelves murmuring to one another, that was the idea I was going for.

Then, from 100 episodes, I share 100 clips! But there'd only be 99, right? Well, one of the clips I shared referenced outtakes from a "Michael Caine in Space" sketch on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" which, at the time, I had trouble locating. Since then, I was able to locate it here: https://bit.ly/4hnn9XM Enjoy!

Finally, in What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I took in Larry Shue's "The Nerd" at the Vernal Theatre downtown, and I shared some thoughts. The company closes out its season with a production of Cole Porter's "Kiss Me Kate" coming up in mid-April, and we're looking forward to it. Tickets and information at https://www.vernaltheatre.com.

  • Ep. 99: Getting Up to Speed
    Feb 17 2025

Enjoying the second installment in Kemper Donovan's ghostwriter mystery series "Loose Lips"!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 99th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings.

This set covers discs 1726 to 1750 in my Classic Collection. For my Fuzzy Feature I pulled up the third, fourth and fifth season finale episodes of "Psych," featuring Ally Sheedy as Mr. Yang. Under Cross Connections I trace appearances by Martin Short, Garret Dillahunt, John Mahoney, Devon Gummersall and Golden Thread Jeri Ryan.

In my Book Report (around the 20-minute mark if you're looking for it specifically), I review the second installment in auther and fellow podcaster Kemper Donovan's ghostwriter mystery series, "Loose Lips." Authors, egos and personalities clash when a literary symposium set aboard a cruise ship turns deadly. Love it! Copies available here: https://bit.ly/3C11ENN

In my Classic Collection, I go into a little more detail about the "Psych" episode Jeri Ryan appeared in, the pilot episode of "Grey's Anatomy," and then I talk about the pilot episodes of "Sons of Tucson" and "American Dad," which showed up in this set.

Finally, in What I've Been Watching, I finally get up to speed with the back catalogs of "Bridgerton" and "Stranger Things." Both are phenomenal shows and I'm very glad people recommended them to me. Very enjoyable use of my downtime watching them; looking forward to the next seasons.

    Jan 23 2025

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 98th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings.

This set covers discs 1701 to 1725 in my Classic Collection. A hilarious sketch from "The Catherine Tate Show" [https://bit.ly/3C2ynT0] touches off my Fuzzy Feature, the two-part 2009-2010 "Doctor Who" Christmas special, "The End of Time."

In Cross Connections I highlight appearances by several actors in shows I cataloged in this set, including Amy Acker, Stan Lee, then with the pilot episode of "Parenthood," I encountered so many direct links throughout my media collection including Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Craig T. Nelson and Mike O'Malley. Fond reflections on Andre Braugher, David Lynch and Linda Lavin, and with his appearance in "Psych," I highlighted actor Bruce Davison as a Golden Thread in my collection.

In my Classic Collection, I chat about the 2010 White House Summit on Health Care Reform, and draw connections to "The West Wing" season seven episode "The Debate." Also, The Simpsons 20th Anniversary special, "Dollhouse," "Nip/Tuck" and Stephen Colbert highlighting Eduard Khil, "The Trololo Guy" [https://bit.ly/40dSaqE] in one of his episodes.

In What I've Been Watching, a friend of mine in Minot, Brent Braniff, put together a 20-minute Minneapolis travelogue called "Friends, Family and Waterfalls" [https://bit.ly/4g4lpSA] Also, comments on "Big Bear" (2017) and "Promising Young Woman" (2020).

Finally, I was able to make some progress on my back catalog. Episodes 1 through 15 have been remastered and now deemed to be fit for human consumption. Enjoy!
