  • Walk the Line 2014: NCAA Bowls & NFL Wk 15 – 12/13/14
    Dec 13 2014
It’s the final Walk the Line of 2014. What a great year this was! Now it’s on to the 2015 Cotton Bowl for the Michigan State Spartans football team, who will head to Dallas for a New Year’s Day matchup against the 3-point favorite Baylor Bears. Will it be a fourth-consecutive bowl victory for Mark Dantonio? Dan Krier & Brooks Laimbeer break down the best bowls, including the playoff pairings of the Rose Bowl (Oregon -9.5) & Sugar Bowl (Alabama -10), and NFL Week 15 (Detroit -8 vs. the Minnesota Vikings).

  • Walk the Line 2014: NCAA Wk 15 & NFL Wk 14 – 12/5/14
    Dec 5 2014
Now that the Michigan State Spartans football team has finished the 2014 regular season with a commendable 10-2 record, Dantonio & Co. must sit at home and wonder “what if” as a depleted Ohio State squares off with Wisconsin (-4) at the Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis. Is a spot in the College Football Playoff still a possibility for Sparty? Other games this week include the SEC Championship (Alabama -14.5), the ACC Championship (FSU -4.5), and the Pac-12 Championship (Oregon -14.5). Plus there are a couple great NFL games to talk about, like Seattle @ Philly and New England @ San Diego.

    Nov 28 2014
One more regular-season game for the Michigan State Spartans football team as they head into Happy Valley as 13-point favorites over Penn State on Saturday afternoon. A win by any means takes Dantonio’s squad to a praiseworthy 10-2, but can the crew cover the spread and establish their right to a Selection Committee Bowl for this holiday season? Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Peach Bowl…whatever man. Otherwise this Saturday, there are only like 100 other games that are worth watching. Rivalry week for NCAA football. It’s on! So great!

  • Walk the Line 2014: NCAA Wk 13 & NFL Wk 12 – 11/21/14
    Nov 21 2014
After grinding out a win at Maryland (and covering the -12) last Saturday night, the Michigan State Spartans football team returns to East Lansing for their final home game of the season, favored by 22 points against Rutgers. Do the Spartans have enough motivation to blow out the Scarlet Knights, or will this be a rainy noon kickoff game that sees Rutgers keeping it too close for comfort? Dan Krier & Brooks Laimbeer look at this week’s games (including the Lions +7 @ New England) and discuss the probable NCAA Football Championship Final Four.

There’s no looking back now; only forward to what needs to be done next. After suffering a devastating and deflating home loss to the underdog Ohio St. Buckeyes last week here in East Lansing, the Michigan State Spartans football team must regroup and get the season back on track as they travel to Maryland as 12-point favorites for a night game against the Big Ten newcomer Terrapins.

Now the real season starts! With the Michigan State Spartans football team staring up at both TCU and Kansas State in the most recent NCAA College Football Playoff Poll, it’s going to take a win over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday and a cover of the -3.5 to leave a lasting impression on the selection committee. In a rematch of last year’s Big Ten Championship game, MSU is in need of a convincing victory over Urban Meyer for the second straight season. Other great games Saturday include Notre Dame +2.5 @ Arizona St. and a death match between the aforementioned TCU, who sits at -6 versus K-State.

Happy Halloween from Walk the Line! It’s a bye week for the Michigan State Spartans football team. It’s also a bye week for ex-Michigan Wolverines athletic director Dave Brandon, whose former team was pummeled last week 35-11 by a Spartans squad who showed the world what it’s like to shove it up into someone's misplaced sense of superiority. Props to Dantonio. No more need to be diplomatic.

So some football team with a losing record from Ann Arbor is coming to East Lansing as 16.5-point underdogs on Saturday. That in itself is humiliating, but a cover by the Michigan State Spartans would be even better. Rivalry week is here at MSU, so Dan Krier & Brooks Laimbeer break down the big game on this week’s Walk the Line. There are some other great NCAA and NFL matchups to talk about, but the Spartans vs. the Wolverines is all we students here at MSU really care about. Go Green!
