  • Lessons from an Outdoor Rink
    Feb 15 2021

I built an outdoor hockey rink. It was an absolutely surreal experience. Deep down, well below its superficial roots, the outdoor rink taught me so much more about myself (and life in general), and despite learning some of these lessons earlier in life, the outdoor rink became a reminder of those things, those little things, the important things, that sometimes we forget. So, let's not forget any longer.

  • The Diet Dilemma
    Oct 25 2020

Let’s talk about a famous word. It is used all, too often, but is vital to our daily life. The word is diet!

(Sighs) This word. It kills me a lot of the time. I find that it gets used way out of context, way too much. I even find that health and fitness professionals use the word wrong a lot.

Even more of a problem is that the word diet often comes with a negative connotation. It is not used favorably. It is almost as if it brings up hidden emotions or triggers lost feelings…which now that I think of it, can be true.

So, let's reframe the word diet!

The first article was in the New York Times last week, and it discussed “What Makes Some People More Resilient than Others”. The second article was titled “30 Signs of Soul Exhaustion”.

Before I continue, what is resiliency? We have all heard the word before. I am sure you heard it growing up, “you have to more resilient?”. So, what is it? A quick online search will give you this definition: resilience is the ability to recover from difficult experiences and setbacks, to adapt and move forward, and sometimes even experience growth.
