The one thing that is draining, is the fact that these youths, some of them never get to fly free from the nest and live their lives as they see fit because of the mere fact that if they don't take care of their families, they will suffer the brunt of either the society, or their own families. Black tax is part of south African black culture. When a child starts working, they are obligated to financially assist their parents and younger siblings.

As a result, some youths do not have the freedom to live as they see fit because of the financial drain of taking care of their families. If they do not pay Black Tax, they face censure from their family and community.

Where do we draw the line as the youth? Is there a way to meet our family obligations while being able to live our own lives the way we choose?

Join us on Global Network as we explore the topic of Black Tax with an in-depth  eye.

Please note that this episode is in Xhosa, with verry little English used. Future episodes of Global Network will be in English.
