During my 30-year career in the military, I read many books on leadership and human potential, but none of them really stirred my thinking like the book The Heart of a Leader by Ken Blanchard. That’s why, when I became an author, I knew I wanted to put together a book like his, a book that could help other people like his book had helped me. I really hope the quotes in this book and my thoughts on them will help you grow as a leader, but perhaps more importantly, I hope they inspire you to develop higher level thoughts of your own.

Effective communication requires that we use the method that works best for those we are speaking to, not just the method that works for ourselves. This means that if you are to be effective in communicating your organization’s goals and objectives, you must learn how to find common ground and establish a connection with people.
