Shadows and Ash

To live in a world of shadows and ash is to know a horrific existence. One of Pain, blood, and sickness. Gods have turned a deaf ear to the suffering and prayers of the devout. In response, worshippers have turned to Darker Gods, who demand tithe in the form of blood, pain, and souls. Many see the war between the Necromancers and the Mages as the cause of the world’s woes. A war that devastated the land, in which things were created and things done that never should have been.

Hathaway is a prison where the Gods have placed the worst monsters in all of creation, hoping they will never again see the light of day. These vile beings are kept locked away by a group of strange and twisted priests, who are their jailers. Deep within this prison is a prisoner known as Joyless.

For millennia, Corpse Angels have taken young women for training to fill their ranks in their war of hatred with the J’Shi. Unsuspecting mortals are making unholy pacts with demons in exchange for knowledge and power. The demons then use those possessed bodies to spread fear, ruin, and devastation far and wide simply for their own demonic amusement. Will Talian, Slasher, and Jean-Kar be able to survive a war between bitter ancient beings who no longer even remember why they are fighting, as well as demons who wish to turn the world of the living into a charnel pit?
