Liz McAllister is looking forward to a much-needed spring break. But when she travels home to Clearfield, Pennsylvania, she discovers that something strange is happening around her sleepy little hometown. The peace is abruptly shattered as earthquakes split the ground and falling satellites burn across the sky. Hordes of vicious monsters materialize across the world and the Earth is engulfed in chaos. Cut off from the outside world, Liz teams up with Mike and their small group of friends.

Cut off from the outside world, Clearfield struggles to rebuild and after a few months their meager supplies are running low. When a faint radio signal reaches them that Pittsburgh still stands, a small expedition is quickly assembled to discover if the message was true and if it was, to return with as many provisions as possible. Liz, Mike, and their friends volunteer to lead the expedition to Pittsburgh. It will be a dangerous journey with no guarantee that their destination will be the safe haven they are hoping for. But if Clearfield is to survive, then the risk must be taken.
