Suzi still lives on a luxurious yacht in Marina del Rey, California, with her legal guardian, attorney Peter Sharp, and still has her trusted bodyguard, Bernie, a huge Saint Bernard. But for this adventure, she doesn't want to see the adults take advantage of her superior computer skills and grab all the credit for solving the crimes, like they did in the first 15 books that chronicled Peter Sharp's high-profile criminal cases. The assignment she has given herself for this first solo adventure is to figure out the identity of a murderous serial church bomber.

The reason for this is because she's an adorable, small Chinese girl name Suzi, the legal ward of attorney Peter Sharp, who has become tired of doing all the work and seeing her lawyer guardian and his bitter ex-wife Myra (the District Attorney) take all the credit for her efforts.

There's one attorney that rubs Peter and Suzi the wrong way most: Mister Morris Arthur, the most devious opponent they've ever faced in court, and one that they feel has been complicit in actions from murder to kidnapping - and getting away with it each time. But this time he attempts what attorney Peter Sharp, his young legal ward Suzi, and even Peter's bitter ex-wife Myra feel is the worst offense: getting one of their small group of close associates in trouble with the law.
