Loretha Curry’s life is full. A little crowded sometimes, but full indeed. On the eve of her 68th birthday, she has a booming beauty-supply empire, a gaggle of lifelong friends, and a husband whose moves still surprise. True, she’s carrying a few more pounds than she should be, but Loretha is not one of those women who think her best days are behind her - and she’s determined to prove wrong her mother, her twin sister, and everyone else with that outdated view of aging wrong. It’s not all downhill from here.

A story inside a story inside a story. A man visits his aging father in a nursing home, where his father writes the novel he imagines his son would write. Or is it the novel that the son imagines his father would imagine, if he were to imagine the kind of novel the son would write?

Menopause. It shouldn’t be a dirty word, especially as virtually half of the population will go through it at some point in their lives. It is a part of womanhood we can't avoid, so it’s about time we talk about it, embrace it, and be honest with ourselves and others about our unique journeys. Not only will sharing and discussing our concerns, questions, and laughable moments help our fellow menopausal sisters learn and relate, but younger women will feel guided and prepared for what is yet to come.
