Ancient Asia

Mohenjo-daro was the largest city of the Indus Valley civilization, one of the most advanced civilizations ever to have existed, and the most ancient prehistoric urban site on the Indian subcontinent. It was a metropolis of great cultural, economic, and political importance that dates from the beginning of the 3rd millennium BCE. Although it flourished between approximately 2500 and 1500 BCE, the city had longer-lasting influences on the urbanization of the Indian subcontinent for centuries after its abandonment.

This is a combo of five titles with different topics related to Chinese history. The topics include Ancient China. It’s hard to cover all of China’s vast history in a short book, but for the sake of leaving out details, we will still give it a try. You will be able to learn more about the most important turning events, eras, dynasties, leaders, wars, and cultural aspects of ancient China. Additionally, you will learn about Chinese mythology, Confucius, Mao Zedong, and Portuguese Macau.

The conquest of the Indo-Gangetic Plain focused the Maurya Empire, and Pataliputra functioned as its capital city (modern-day Patna). Beyond this royal core, the empire's geographical reach was limited by the dedication of army leaders who ruled the armed cities that dot the landscape.

Genghis Khan was the Mongol emperor who has expanded his region to the biggest empire on the face of the Earth ever. His empire stretched from East Asia all the way to various European countries, the Middle East, and beyond. You will learn more about his early life, his relationships, marriage, families and children, his attacks, his unification of the Mongolian Federations, his death, succession, and the continuing of the Mongolian Empire after his death.

If the history of the Eastern Han dynasty were limited to the accomplishments of its scholars, scientists, and inventors, it would be a glorious saga of the innovation and creativity of the human mind. Anesthesia was first used during surgical procedures in the years of the Eastern Han emperors, earthquake tremors were measured, and perhaps, most remarkable of all, a process for manufacturing paper was developed by a eunuch of the imperial court. 

The history of the Western Han dynasty reveals a time of magnificence for China: A time when the country expanded its territory, perfected the weaving of silk to such an extent that a trade route extending from China all the way to Rome would take its name from that prized export, and capitalized upon the technological advances within its country to witness an agricultural revolution that predated Europe’s farming innovations by hundreds of years.

Learn about the unique blend of culture, tradition, music, and food from this part of South India. More focus on the Palghat (also known as Palakkad) Brahmins (Iyers, specific to that location context), a community known for their unique traits and social contribution. This community is known for their ancient wisdom passed on into next generations by elders in the family. Their customs and traditions in clothing, food preparations, marriage, and even in death. Some parts of these are exclusive to Palghat Iyers.
