Descriptive study of the book of Acts and its lessons.

The theologian Clarence Larkin (1850-1924) examines each chapter in The Book of Daniel and its meaning. It includes a chapter on the dream of King Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel’s interpretation of it. Published in 1918, the book prophesied the re-establishment of the State of Israel.

Historicism is the method of interpretation that actually developed out of the Protestant Reformation, which is the reason why, to quote one critic, the “view was so widely held, that for a long time it was called the Protestant view”. That alone should pique interest to a deeper study of the view.

The book of Acts bursts with the passion of early Christians embracing God's work and spreading Jesus's message worldwide. God has many ways of teaching us. Jesus taught by example. Men looked at how he lived, and decided to walk that way also. He also taught by precept, speaking directly to people, in a way we might call teaching today. But his favorite way of teaching was through the use of the parable. If this book is primarily about the future from the time of John receiving the Revelation, then we must consider that much of the things which shall be hereafter having commenced shortly thereafter, would now, in our time, 1900 years later, have already happened over that span of time, and can be found in history.

Of John's five New Testament books, these three include a sermon and two personal letters, one of which may have been written to Mary, the mother of our Lord. His Gospel deals with our past: salvation. Revelation deals with our future. John's First Epistle deals with our present: sanctification. It has been called the New Testament sanctum sanctorum.
