The Aldens have promised Grandfather a vacation from mysteries during their island visit. But the promise proves hard to keep when things start to go missing. Then an old fisherman tells Benny of the island’s ghost horse, and late that very night Benny sees a mysterious stallion galloping down the beach. Could the ghost horse have something to do with the disappearances?

The Boxcar Children have entered the Ruby Hollow Gem Mine’s annual gem-hunting competition. With a little instruction and the right gear, the Aldens have everything they need to become real rock hounds! They have a natural talent for rock-finding, and it’s not long before Jessie makes a fabulous find. But before she can enter her ruby in the competition, it disappears! Could there be a thief at the mine? Now, instead of digging for rocks, the Aldens are digging for clues. Who wants to win the contest so much that they would steal from the Aldens? The children don’t know, but they’re determined to find out!

The Aldens are going on a trip to the Arizona desert. There they learn about the legend of the Lost Dutchman Mine. Everyone thinks the mine is filled with gold. Can the Boxcar Children find out if the legend is true - and if it is, who will find the gold?

The Aldens must find a way to solve many mysteries, and all before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday! Strange things are happening in Greenfield where the Boxcar Children live. Stray cats and dogs appear on doorsteps, but the animal shelter is forced to close, and a nice old woman disappears. Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny are very worried about Mrs. Newcombe. Is she in danger? Who are the strange men lurking around her house?

The Aldens are going to visit a guide dog school - but once they arrive, mysterious things start to happen. Benny sees strange lights in one of the dormitory rooms... and late one night, someone breaks into the kennel where the guide dogs are kept. Is someone after one of the dogs? The Boxcar Children are determined to find out!

The Aldens are helping out at a rescue ranch, taking care of horses that need extra attention. Jessie’s favorite is a beautiful horse named Dragon. But when Dragon and some of the other horses disappear from the pasture, the Boxcar Children must saddle up for a mystery. What’s happening to the horses at the Dare to Dream Ranch?

The Aldens are spending a weekend at Goldwin University for Grandfather’s college reunion. The children are fascinated by the mysterious clock tower overshadowing campus and they soon learn that the tower might hold the key to a valuable secret from the past! The Aldens are in a community basketball league, and Buzz and Tipper Nettleton, Greenfield’s most famous basketball stars, are coaching their teams! But Tipper’s Most Valuable trophy is missing, and Buzz’s practice schedules get mixed up. Is somebody trying to foul up the community league?

One day in the park, the Aldens’ dog, Watch, comes across a mysterious box with a note inside. “Congratulations!” the note says. “You’ve found it!” The box is part of a game called Geocaching. It’s a big week at Cogwheel Stadium - the Clayton Cogs are playing for the pennant! But the other team’s batters seem to know the pitches too well, and it’s clear someone in the stadium is stealing the Cogs pitcher’s signals. Now the Boxcar Children must find out who is spying for the other team!
