British History

Most anyone who has received a basic education in world history knows the story of how "in 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue." Thanks to its commercial complexion and the power invested in a board of directors, British rule in India was characterized by economic monopolies, aggressive trade practices, punitive taxation, and the impoverishment of vast regions of India.
