Building a dream! Once upon a time there was a neighborhood in a city not far from here. It was a neighborhood full of children of all tastes and ages, but if there was one thing those children had in common, it was that they all liked to play and have fun.

Being a mom is a full-time job. It’s demanding, exhausting, and occasionally frustrating, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We love our children. We want to give them the world and will stop at nothing to get them the things they need. Often, we give so much of ourselves to our work and our families that we lose ourselves in motherhood and forget to do the things that make us whole. We burn out and become exhausted, but things don’t need to be this way! It’s definitely possible to take care of ourselves while still being the excellent parents we know we are.

Building Bridges is set in 1965 in Anderston, Glasgow and examines the reaction of deserted husband, Billy Speirs, and his family to the return of his estranged wife, Bernie, whose mother has been taken seriously ill. It is a tale of bitterness and betrayal but also of the absolute enduring strength of love at a time when a community was being sliced up to make way for a stretch of inner city motorway and the Glasgow Kingston Bridge.

The story is about a little Jamaican boy named Jahmalachi; he gives you an insight into the life of a five-year-old. The story will enlighten you about his dreams, likes, dislikes, and his family dynamics in a snapshot. The book addresses his culture, race, and his language. The book also provides some learning activities, which gives children the opportunity to provide information about themselves and encourages them to draw their favorite characters; it also asks some comprehension questions which assess their reading and recalling skills.
