Burnout is among the most critical topics in healthcare as it deprives us of our most important resource - the talents and passion of those who perform the difficult work of caring for patients and their families. The purpose of this work is to provide not only a taxonomy of burnout within the landscape of healthcare, but also to provide pathways for healthcare professionals to guide themselves and their organizations toward changing the culture and systems of their organization.

On one of the busiest days of tax accountant Cara Carozza's tax season, she receives a call from her twin sister, letting her know that her home is surrounded by cops. They allege that her husband and children are manufacturing drugs on their property to sell to high school students, and that her husband is at the center. Cara is thrust into a whirlwind of court appearances, financial hiccups, and emotional distress. Through her fight to defend her dignity, and protect her family, she goes on a journey of self-discovery that ultimately leads her to a breakthrough.
