Church Politics

America faces a war of values that will determine its future and likely decide if it will continue as a great nation on the world stage. What is the true nature and mission of the church? Is its proper Christian purpose to save souls, or to transform the social order? Human trafficking is one of the most pressing social justice issues of our time, and in recent years there has been renewed interest among Christians, as many have been stirred up to take their part in the ongoing battle. This is a wonderful thing—and yet misinformed and misguided efforts can do more harm than good. The Church is very good at saying all the right things about racial equality. But the reality is that the institution has utterly failed to back up these good intentions with demonstrable efforts to reform. It is a long way from being a place of Black flourishing.
