Teaching biology to Freedom School students in Meridian, Luke became one of more than seven hundred student volunteers who joined experienced Black civil rights workers and clergy to challenge white supremacy in the nation’s most segregated state.

Malcolm X is a towering figure in American history and one of the most influential civil rights leaders of the 20th century.
