Carnival is just around the corner, so New Orleans is enjoying the last gasps of the off-season. It should be a quiet time in the French Quarter, but nothing is ever truly quiet on Bourbon Street. When a man and woman walking home from dinner are attacked by a monster, Zach Sully and Ofelia Archer are called to the scene. The man is dead, killed in an instant, and the woman is shaken. She also happens to be Sully’s ex-girlfriend. As Ofelia looks into things—monsters are her specialty after all—disturbing stories start to emerge.

Ofelia Archer is the top witch in New Orlean’s French Quarter, who also owns the premiere supernatural speakeasy in the state, and she’s not to be trifled with. Zach Sully is one of the top detectives with the police department…and one of only a handful of law enforcement representatives in the city who is in on the big paranormal secret. Of course, as a panther-shifter, he’s part of that secret. Together, they make a fearsome duo...who have to learn to trust one another if they’re going to keep the monsters in the Big Easy in check.

Ofelia Archer is a witch about town. That town happens to be New Orleans. Magic has always been part of her life, but now it’s the creed she lives by, as she runs her supernatural bar Krewe in the heart of the city. Zacharias Sully left a life of luxury to protect and serve. His panther-shifter background means he’s ready for a fight. He just never thought he would be doing it alongside a witch. Ofelia and Sully weren’t looking for love, but they found each other. Now they just have to survive the darkness that is constantly threatening New Orleans.

Christmas has come to the Quarter, and that means big things for Ofelia Archer. Her father is getting out of the hospital for a holiday visit, she’s about to meet two future sisters-in-law for the first time, and this is her first Christmas with her fiancé. She should be on top of the world. There’s just one little problem. Bodies are showing up around the French Quarter, what looks to be candy canes pierced through their hearts. When those candy canes are removed, some of the victims come back, and they’re different people.

With Halloween right around the corner, all Ofelia wants to worry about is what couple’s costume she and her boyfriend Zach Sully are going to wear to the big reunion party being hosted for her former high school. Then the unthinkable happens and she senses Sully is in danger when he’s out on a case. Ofelia swoops in, the mightiest witch in the French Quarter, and finds herself saving the love of her life shoulder-to-shoulder with his father.

As owner of New Orleans’ premier supernatural speakeasy, Ofelia is always in the thick of things when the witch hits the fan. Zach Sully has a colorful background. As a panther shifter, he keeps his true origins secret while walking the colorful streets of the French Quarter keeping law and order. Ofelia and Sully will be forced to get over their inner misgivings and unite if they want to solve the crime...and stay alive in the process.

She's making plans for Christmas, trying not to fixate on the fact that her mother is picking up trash as part of her community service, and otherwise just lazing about. Then life takes a turn, as it so often does in New Orleans, and her mother calls with a problem. It seems she's found a body. Ofelia and her fiancé Zach Sully race to Bywater and are shocked to find that Ofelia knew the victim. She went to school with him, and at one time, he was close friends with her brother Felix.

Charlie Rhodes is psychic, telekinetic, and hiding in the one place where they’re looking for her. Enthusiastic to the point of being absurd, Charlie is gung-ho about her position with the Legacy Foundation, a group that travels the world looking to solve the unexplained and prove the existence of the paranormal. From one coast to the next, she (along with her merry band of misfits) investigates strange and odd phenomena...all the while pretending she’s a normal human being without magical to call on.

Ofelia Archer is the French Quarter’s favorite witch. That comes with a lot of problems, however. With her fiancé Zach Sully at her side, and a bevy of other magical folk serving as backup, Ofelia will take on the evil that comes to New Orleans while embracing the light and magic. Jenna Sutton is nothing like Buffy—the iconic vampire slayer of TV fame. She’s the antithesis of a cheerleader. She’s not peppy. And she sucks at gymnastics. She has nothing in common with the fictional Buffy, other than being blonde and in high school. Oh, and occasionally she kills vampires for a living, as well as other things that go bump in the night.

He was drained of everything fluid he possessed, which points to something paranormal.

Then she realizes exactly how far things can fall apart in only a few days. It seems in her absence Ofelia’s mother Marie Charles has been taken in by a cult, and Ofelia is convinced it’s not the sort of group who worship beignets over chaos and bloodshed. When Ofelia tries talking to her mother she finds a different woman waiting for he...and she’s beyond concerned.

After one meal, a magical barrage of fire rains down on the group as they’re walking down Bourbon Street. When the flames clear, a young woman is left for dead, and the only thing they know about her is that she was part of a multilevel marketing scheme called Hexential Oils.

She owns her own business, her father seems to be on an even keel, and her new relationship with detective Zacharias Sully is cruising right along. Everything changes in an instant, though, when screams from the street lead to zombies running amok through the French Quarter. Ofelia is a tough witch who takes no guff but even she is at a loss.
