Timothy’s journey into the magical and enchanting world of Mielikuvitus has taken a dark and dangerous turn. Having rescued his younger sister from the labyrinth beneath the Torn Mountains, Timothy emerges to find Mielikuvitus under siege. The Dark Entity holds the world under its dark banner as it amasses an army to destroy everything.

The dryads have risen up against humanity. Queen Cathryn's realm is broken, her people have scattered, and the future is uncertain. She gives Tolucan, a newly knighted commoner, a seemingly impossible, secret quest; to seek out the sole weakness of Dark Oak, King of the Dryads, and to destroy him, whatever the cost. Even within the forest, strife threatens Dark Oak's reign, but he will not be defeated so easily.

Scotland, 1388. After Fergus Scott of Eildon travels north to investigate reports of a malevolent presence, he encounters the ferocious Alistair Mor. Drawn into battle against enchantment and death, Fergus is aided by the lovely but quick-tempered Seonaid. Meanwhile, Donald of the Isles and his army march to confront Alistair, and trouble is brewing as the witches of Scotland gather to recreate the Book of Black Earth.
