A follow-up to her popular Encyclopedia of the Exquisite, Jenkins' new book offers a string of historical anecdotes structured around the hours of the day, celebrating the unusual, fantastic, and beautiful ways people have spent time throughout the ages.

Today, it is difficult to imagine a living room without a sofa. When the first sofas on record were delivered in 17th-century France, the result was a radical reinvention of interior space. Symptomatic of a new age of casualness and comfort, the sofa ushered in an era known as the golden age of conversation; as the first piece of furniture designed for two, it was also considered an invitation to seduction. With the sofa came many other changes in interior space we now take for granted: private bedrooms, bathrooms, and the original living rooms.

Tom Karen is the Vimp, an Aircruiser and a Water Line Ship; he's a 'Big Fat Peace Bomb', a Bond Bug and the Marble Run; he's the Chopper bike and the 'man that designed the 1970s'; he's every one of his thousands of sketches contained in London's Victoria & Albert Museum - each a testament to a lifetime of artistry and creativity. He's also a living embodiment of a life immersed in inventiveness, imagination and thought.

The antebellum era and the close of the 19th century frame a period of great agricultural expansion. During this time, farmhouse plans designed by rural men and women regularly appeared in the flourishing Northern farm journals. This book analyzes these vital indicators of the work patterns, social interactions, and cultural values of the farm families of the time. Examining several hundred owner-designed plans, McMurry shows the ingenious ways in which "progressive" rural Americans designed farmhouses in keeping with their visions of a dynamic, reformed rural culture.

This study, based on newspapers, journals, oral interviews, and academic studies examines 19th- and 20th-century cultural changes through the space and place of American baseball parks to expose how public buildings exemplify American culture. The argument put forth by author Connie F. Sexauer is: Connections can be made by examining these places to reveal economic, political, and social conditions of American society to reveal changes to the culture of the day.

In recent years, many of these experiences have been increasingly transformed, and capitalized on through advancements that adapt the world around us, and to suit our ever-more computerized environment. Multisensory Experiences is a comprehensive introduction that takes the listener from the fundamentals of multisensory experiences and design, through the relationship between the senses and technology, to finally what the future of those experiences may look like, and our responsibility in it.

佐藤氏がクリエイターの道に入ったきっかけとは一体何だったのでしょうか?

日本史上屈指のキャリアデザインの達人と言えば、足軽から天下人となった豊臣秀吉を思い浮かべる人も多いでしょう。織田家臣時代の彼は、早くから光秀同様に織田家成果主義の欠陥を見抜き、そして光秀以上の手腕でそれを乗り切っていました。ただ、そんな彼の作った人事制度には致命的な欠点がありました。　　　　　秀吉が信長の草履取りから地道に功を重ねて軍団長にまで出世する話は、興味深いが有名な話なので、ここでは繰り返さない。墨俣一夜城や越前からの撤退戦など、基本的に人がやりたがらないイヤな仕事を進んでこなす真面目な人だったことがうかがえる。これは恐らく、自らの身分が低いことから、与えられるチャンスは何でもモノにしようという姿勢だったのだろう。その点、最初から中途採用エリートとして軍事・外交のメインステージで活躍した明智光秀とはまったく異なるキャリアコースと言っていい。（本文より） 城繁幸『サラリーマン・キャリアナビ』★出世と喧嘩の正しい作法はこちらから→http://yakan-hiko.com/joe.html
