The continuing story of the people of Cheshire, New Hampshire. Martin made it home after the outage (book one) but he still has to cope with a grid-down world, the resulting economic collapse, and governmental intrusion. Government agencies (FEMA, etc.,) offer aid, but demand total control in return. NH refuses to comply. For this, the authorities block aid to NH (a siege of sorts) in an attempt to force compliance. With no aid coming from outside, the people of Cheshire work to secure alternate food sources from what's available.

The Epsilon Papers are a fast-moving mixture of time-travel, politics, and murder. At the heart of the story is Doctor Chau Li, an MIT research scientist who was the first to recognize Epsilon as a conduit for time-travel. Two other key characters are Thomas Scott, the Independent Senate Majority Leader from New York, and Senator Manny Ogden, code-named SOTUS.
