Met aandacht voor klankkleur, vorm en karakter van zowel instrumenten en als van composities.

In dit acht uur durende hoorcollege neemt Leo Samama de luisteraar mee door de geschiedenis van de westerse klassieke muziek. Beginnend bij de kunstuitingen van de troubadours in Frankrijk tot de moderne composities van de 20e eeuwse componisten. Daarnaast komen de belangrijkste periodes aan bod waaronder de barok, de Weense Klassieken, de romantiek en de 20e eeuw.

In deze reeks hoorcolleges behandelt Anthonya Visser belangrijke Duitstalige schrijvers van de 18e tot en met de 21e eeuw. Teksten van Goethe, Heine, Kafka en anderen worden belicht vanuit literatuurhistorisch perspectief, waarbij vormaspecten vanzelfsprekend ook aan bod komen. Visser gaat eveneens in op de fascinerende politiek-culturele context waarin deze literatuur tot stand is gekomen.

Literatuur in de 19e eeuw was geen vrijblijvend vermaak. Schrijvers wilden de maatschappij verbeteren door aandacht voor sociale problemen, maar ook door aansluiting te zoeken bij internationale kunstbewegingen. Literatuur als middelaar tussen ideaal en werkelijkheid. Rond 1880 keren nieuwe jonge schrijvers zich tegen deze generatie en literatuur wordt weer iets voor een kleine groep geestverwanten.
