H Number One has forgotten his actual name. Everyone has. Their names have been taken from them and they must be thankful they are still alive. With Earth on the verge of becoming an uninhabitable planet due to human activity, an almighty alien race, commanded by their leader Rosanna, has taken over humankind in a matter of days. Some humans have chosen to reject Felicity, their mythological leader, and to side with the aliens and their promise of a new society. Others have decided to resist and fight for their troubled freedom. Most are dead.

The country is at war, but they've targeted the wrong enemy. Claren tried to do what was right. She followed orders, played her part, and minded her own business. And now the world is literally burning down around her. The Leaders think she's dead. They don't know about the army of Embers she's been assembling across the country. They don't know about the power building within her or the secrets she keeps. Claren didn't start the war, but she has every intention of finishing it.

Unfortunately for them and the rest of the town, capitalism waits for no one, especially when the greedy and power-hungry Mayor James seeks to put his multibillion-dollar jail plan in motion. What makes him dangerous is not only his political power, but also his ties to Kareem and Pastor Thomas, who are also willing to build more jails throughout town.
