"Paul et Virginie" est un roman de Bernardin de Saint-Pierre, écrit en 1787. Ce texte est aujourd'hui un grand classique réunissant les thèmes de l'amour impossible et de l'ailleurs exotique et sublimé. Deux femmes se retrouvent par le hasard de la vie à l'île de France, et doivent élever seules leurs enfants. Elles décident qu'ils grandiront ensemble, et ainsi Paul et Virginie sont comme frère et sœur. Mais l'innocence et la pureté des lieux les engagent à l'adolescence vers des sentiments d'une plus grande profondeur.

Les contes fantastiques de Guy de Maupassant (1850-1893) comptent parmi les meilleures du genre en littérature française. Cet extrait de "La Peur" (seconde version) dans lequel l’auteur parle du romancier russe Tourgueniev, s’appliquerait parfaitement à lui-même : "Avec lui, on la sent bien, la peur vague de l’Invisible, la peur de l’inconnu qui est derrière le mur, derrière la porte, derrière la vie apparente. Avec lui, nous sommes brusquement traversés par des lumières douteuses qui éclairent seulement assez pour augmenter notre angoisse."

"Le dernier jour d'un condamné" est un roman à thèse de Victor Hugo publié en 1829 qui constitue un plaidoyer pour l'abolition de la peine de mort. L'homme qui s'exprime dans ce roman n'a plus que quelques heures à vivre et cette prise de conscience absolue le terrasse. "Le Dernier Jour d'un condamné" est ici transposé en une fiction sonore écrite par Jennifer Lesieur, interprétée par Sophie Stalport et mise en musique par A.Del / Les Liseuses.
