Evolution History

This delightful little book, published in the 1800s, gives a concise and illuminating history of our present-day alphabet. Although later scholarship has augmented much of what we know about our alphabet in the last 140 years, this text still is worthy as an appetizer for further exploration.

It was September 18, 2001. In the early morning darkness, a lone figure dropped several letters into a mailbox. Seventeen days later, a Florida journalist died of inhalational anthrax. In the early 19th century, two literary works appeared and helped shape Christmas. The first was a collection of stories by Washington Irving, entitled Sketch Book, from 1819.
