Great Expectations is one of Charles Dickens’ greatest critical and popular successes. The first-person narrative relates the coming-of-age of Pip (Philip Pirrip). On Christmas Eve, young Pip, an orphan being raised by his sister and her husband, encounters a convict in the village churchyard.
