Historical Horror Fiction

Interwoven with the dual themes of ghosts and the Grand Central Station Terminal. The stories vary in time period from the 1800's to the present, from pure imagination to historically based fiction. Some of the stories are humorous, some thought provoking, and some are frightening. Generally the stories are short in length, with the thought being that one might listen to this audiobook on a train, and that in transit concentration and time may be limited.

For many years, I wanted to write a story about the mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana, particularly the role of the Air Force in airlifting the remains back to the United States. I refused to write about it because I thought anything connected with Jonestown should entail one sentence: Guyana was a horrible, horrible event, and the US military did gruesome things they should never, never had done.

Originally published in 1911, this account perhaps more accurately belongs in our series of occult fiction, but it is one of many stories Leadbeater published as being true. This particular tale is the retelling of a story relayed to him by Helena Blavatsky, about two travelers who discover a remote, old house that is haunted by the spirit of a baron who committed suicide.
