આ પુસ્તક મુખ્યત્વે કૃષ્ણની મહાભારત યુદ્ધ તેના યાદવ પરિવાર સાથેના તેમના યુગના અંત સુધીના 36 વર્ષની અર્ધ-સાહિત્યની યાત્રા વિશે છે, શરૂઆતમાં ગાંધારી અને આખરે મહર્ષિ કશ્યપ દ્વારા શ્રાપિત હતો.

જુનવાણી અને સાવ પરંપરાગત નવલિકા અને આધુનિક નવલિકા વચ્ચે બે પેઢીનું અંતર છે પણ આધુનિક નવલિકાઓ છતા સમજવી અઘરી નહિં તેવી ભાષામાં માણસના મનોભાવોને બહુ કલાત્મક રીતે છતાં સરળ બાનીમાં વ્યક્ત કરી શકે છે.
