Quando la maggioranza dei delegati si rifiuta di espellerlo dal PSI assieme ai suoi compagni, come pretende la neonata Terza Internazionale, i delegati comunisti abbandonano i lavori per dare vita al loro partito. Durante quel congresso Turati, nel suo memorabile discorso, non si limita a difendere la sua concezione del socialismo ma, rivolto ai seguaci di Lenin, si concede una profezia.
