Heading to an unknown land to preach the good news to a Northern Indian tribe living just above the Arctic Circle may not sound like a good life, but I didn't care. As long as I was with my husband, I could do everything. And with Christ on our side, we left everything behind to live in the remote wilderness of Alaska.

Deep in the heart of the Amazon, the city of Rondon do Pará, Brazil, lived for decades in the shadow of land barons, or fazendeiros, who maintained control of the region through unscrupulous land grabs and egregious human rights violations. They razed and burned the jungle, expelled small-scale farmers and Indigenous tribes from their lands, and treated their farmhands as slaves—all with impunity.

Mary Jane Seacole (1805­-1881) was a British Jamaican nurse, author, world traveler, and businesswoman renowned for her work with the soldiers of the Crimean War.

"In Consequences I," Kesselheim recalls how when things sometimes go wrong, the key players have to make immediate decisions. In 1979, Kesselheim and companions were involved in a canoe that had capsized in the frigid lake waters of northern Quebec and he was thrust into the role of rescuer. In "Consequences II," the story is told from the perspective of one of the capsized paddlers.

"In The Storm" is LeMoyne's personal account of the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew in south Florida. The writer, with his wife, daughter, and sister-in-law, evacuated their apartment near downtown Miami and drove to a friend's concrete-block house about five miles inland. It features short stories from his life growing up in Kenya as well as when he worked as a TV photographer for WTOC-TV news in Savannah, Georgia. Tim's life may seem unbelievable at times. He gets chased by elephants, was nearly eaten by lions, fought off pythons, nearly frozen on top of Mount Kenya, and was almost burned alive!
