Life Poetry

I have wondered at the many ways life turns me inside and out, every day of my life. I do my best to see life with depth and breath. A broader lens of what I see day to day. With practice and intent, I try to find the uncommon in everyday life. Simply living my daily experiences can in itself become a form of art. For the most part, this book has come together aroused by thoughts and feelings from my everyday life. Some are deeper, more insightful. Others are lighter and more playful. Some are haunting, with vivid memories that follow me through my life.

This is the second book in A Quiet Contemplation series. In this book it collates together a series of poetic reflections and observations on life and death, coronavirus, and hope.

Life is tough and full of hard times and heartache, but it’s also beautiful and plush and vibrant. Walk Through a Field of Flowers is a collection of poems gathered over a lifetime starting as a young child. Some are autobiographical, others are written as an observer of life and other people’s struggles or situations. The author has added her own thoughts about each poem and explained the meaning and origin; sometimes funny, sometimes serious, and occasionally with a little humility.

Black Lives, Lines, & Lyrics conveys the 21st century Black experience through lines and verse. Divided into three measures, this poetry collection provides rhythmical reflections on black experiences with racial and social injustice, a poetic account of the lives lost to police brutality and racial violence, and a lyrical celebration of the beauty, resilience, and humanity of Black people.

I Wonder When You Knew is a collection of poems, prose, song lyrics, and other writings collected from my high school days through the present time. They describe my experiences, perceptions, and philosophy of love and life. Half of the entries are autobiographical, the others fictional. These writings reflect my own adventures interacting with those people, places, and things that I have loved in my life. I hope that those who listen to these words share some of the same feelings that I have had.
