Life Poetry

Book 1 introduces you to why and how I started my writing career, not only through my rhyming verses, but also via the background information accompanying each unique poem. In this book, you are introduced to my son Jodi who has autism and whose disability proved the catalyst for my rhyming poems and verses. I hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

This book consists of poems that signify the events of life. No matter what life brings for us to experience on our own - dark or bright, high or low, joy or sorrow - it all enriches us with great lessons. Life is our master indeed. Life, You Are the Master! contains select thought-provoking, original poems written over the period of 2007-2015, in different countries such as England, Germany, Poland, and Bangladesh. It also includes 10 beautiful haikus.

In Life Without a Net, author Don Severance has drawn upon interest in music and sports to present seven stories of challenge and compassion. The adventures are realistic and entertaining. Dr. Severance begins each story based on his life experiences, then enlarges the themes into dramatic works of fiction.

A Life in Rhyme - My Family is the second book in a collection of rhyming story poems I've written over a period of years. None of them were initially written for book publication, but I have received such encouragement from friends and family about them, I've decided to compile the verses into four different titles. Book 2 introduces you to my family and the story poems I've written for them on their special birthdays and anniversaries.

Life in Solitude is an introductory chapbook of haikus. It is centered around the emotions, experiences, and personal observations regarding the 2020 pandemic. These 34 poems are reflections intended to resonate with the listener and perhaps shed a humorous light on newfound experiences.

Today is a gift - that’s why it’s called the present, or as Ella Wheeler Wilcox says, it’s the "privilege". This timeless poetical work of art is reminiscent of Shakespeare’s "All the World’s a Stage", for both poems chronicle the various stages of life, however, this one ends with an air of optimism and sage advice. The poem was first published in the early 1900s and is every bit as relevant today as it was at the time of its conception. Poetry of true life. 

The title of my book is one of the poems entitled Life Is Too Short. I added "to Waste" to give the title a more significant meaning. People are getting killed every day at a very young age and a fair number of people were dying of natural causes, and I am sure they have not accomplished their goals when they were killed. I have many pieces in this book, and I hope each and every piece will be comfort and enjoyment to my listeners. This is my second poetry book.
