Abdel Karim AlKhattabi, also spelled Abdelkarim el-Khattabi, was a prominent Moroccan nationalist and leader of the Moroccan independence movement during the mid 20th century. AlKhattabi played a crucial role in organizing and leading the armed resistance against French and Spanish colonial rule in Morocco. He became a symbol of resistance and a champion of Moroccan independence. AlKhattabi led the Rif Republic, an independent state established in the Rif region from 1921 to 1926.

The modern history of Africa was, until very recently, written on behalf of the indigenous races by the white man, who had forcefully entered the continent during a particularly hubristic and dynamic phase of European history. In 1884, Prince Otto von Bismarck, the German chancellor, brought the plenipotentiaries of all major powers of Europe together to deal with Africa's colonization in such a manner as to avoid provocation of war.
