Almost all of us know someone who had been deployed to Vietnam. But most of the veterans don't want to talk about their Vietnam experiences. So, for me, this is the first realistic, packed-with-details account of what daily life was like in Vietnam that I've ever heard. This volume of Combat Veterans’ Stories of the Vietnam War contains 15 autobiographical stories.

James Robert "Bob" Kalsu was an esteemed member of the United States military. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he made the ultimate sacrifice of giving his life for his country. My memoir traces the events of my early life from 1962 to 1974 when my family found itself in the epicenter of the Vietnam War. When I was eleven years old my father, then Commander James Stockdale, was shot down and declared "missing in action" in September 1965.
