Native American Indian History

This one-volume narrative history of American Indians in the United States traces the experiences of indigenous peoples from early colonial times to the present day. It demonstrates how Indian existence has varied and changed throughout our nation's history. The Indian Removal Act of 1830 was the culmination of the United States' policy to force native populations to relocate west of the Mississippi River.
