This book is about a small dog and how he learned to get along with other animals. He loves people, other animals, and children and fun to have. Elizabeth Carrell included some of the pictures of her dog, Curby.

My name is Codi Nicholson. I am so doggone excited to tell you about myself, I don't know where to begin! I was rescued from the meat market in South Korea in 2017 and brought to Canada by a wonderful not for profit rescue organization. I was adopted and found my "forever" home. Dogs have been considered man’s best friend for over 12,000 years. In fact, the dog was actually the first animal to be domesticated and kept as a pet! There are hundreds of different breeds, which have been used for hunting, literary muses, sports, and, most of all, companionship. Needless to say, there is so much to learn about our canine companions.

It can be tough growing up. I should know! I used to be a pup just like you and boy did I have it ruff. I was lucky, though, because I had some great teachers (like my grandpaw Charlie "Tremendous" Jones) who taught me a lot of really pawsome things that kept me out of the doghouse and made me the pawsitive Wonderdog that I am today.

Even a monarch needs a best friend and Queen Elizabeth II found one in a corgi pup she named Susan. From princesshood to queendom the pair forged an unbreakable bond, with Susan even participating in Elizabeth’s wedding day and joining her on honeymoon with Prince Philip. Over the course of her remarkable seventy-year reign the Queen had more than thirty corgi companions, and almost all were direct descendants of her cherished Susan.

Dogs that are part of wildlife detective teams are trained to catch the scent of wild animal poop (scat) so that scientists can learn about these animals without luring or trapping them. Like many pooper snoopers, Sampson, the dog in this book, was once a shelter dog, too hyper and ball crazy for families. That energy and ball drive is what makes him such a good dog detective. He is trained on many species, from salamanders to bears, but his goal is always the same. Find the scat and get the ball!
