Obsessive Compulsive Relationship

Many of my readers and listeners write to me asking how to better help their spouse or partner who has OCPD. After writing my book on OCPD - 35 Underlying Causes of OCPD, I jumped directly into researching everything that I could in order to help these couples to find a way to grow together.

It is likely that you have been recently told by a spouse, friend, family member, or health-care provider that you have OCPD. What does that mean to you? You have been the same way all of your life. All of your family members have likely been this way as well. You involve yourself deeply in your work and in ensuring that your family and yourself are well provided for. Your employer seems to be happy with your hard work and perseverance. You are stable and grounded.

When you see perfectionism in others and see the results of perfectionism, you would probably have a hard time believing that perfectionism could be holding so many people back. Truth is, perfectionism is holding many people back in a lot of ways. When you see a perfectly clean home, a perfect workplace report, and a perfect garden you can't help but envy the perfectionist. Perfectionism takes time; it takes a lot of time to make things perfect, and not only does it cost you a great deal of time, but it is also costing you mental well-being and happiness.
