Pirate Radio

Pirate radio represents magical rebellion. Pirate radio signifies creative protest. Pirate radio can change the world. Pirate radio (unlicensed radio broadcasting) has played a historically significant though usually ignored role in the greater cause of freedom of the press; though today other forms of broadcasting may seem to have eclipsed it, we still need to honor and advance pirate radio in order to maximize freedom of the press.

What a time it was. Suddenly, all across Nottingham, the UK's ninth biggest city, transmitters were crackling into life with another kind of voice, another kind of sound. In a way, we were back to the '60s. And in a way, we weren't. It all happened in the city of Robin Hood; but it could have been anywhere in the UK, where similar stories were being played out by like-minded individuals who were starting to realize that something was very, very wrong.... Make no mistake. This is the story of a revolution.

Dave was part of the first real British Pirate Radio station, where he was treated like a pop star, dabbled with drugs and lived a life far richer in experience than most. Once onboard, Cash partnered with Kenny Everett for the Kenny & Cash Show, one of the most successful of all pirate radio programmes.
