It introduces Hegel's ideas in a way which will be useful for those fighting for social change, and while some familiarity with philosophy would be an advantage for the listener, the main pre-requisite is a commitment to the practical pursuit of ideal aims. The book covers the whole sweep of Hegel's writing, but focuses particularly on the Logic and Hegel's social theory—the Philosophy of Right.

The Communist Manifesto was conceived as an outline of the basic beliefs of the Communist movement.
