This is the newest version of 'The Shortest Day' which is bridged with new bridging verses to give it a different outlook and flavor to the poetry. It is not as compact and tight as the original but it has its own dynamics I actually prefer the bridged version, what do you think?

This Poem was written after reading a poem by William Wordsworth titled 'The Longest Day'. I checked and there had never been a poem written of the Shortest Day at the time of writing. This poem was written in the 90's and is only just getting published here now! I hope you enjoy it.

John Donne was born on the 22nd January 1572 in London, into a Roman Catholic family when Catholicism was illegal in England, and there was turbulence and unrest with both state and church throughout much of Europe. Originally published in 1954 to honor Stevens’ 57th birthday, the book was rushed into print for the occasion and contained scores of errors.
