My sheets are soaking wet when I wake up from nightmares of decaying corpses. I order another drink and swig it, trying to forget about the latest case I can’t shake. John Wayne Gacy: The Killer Clown, was a prolific American serial killer who murdered 33 boys between 1972 and 1976, burying most of them in the crawlspace under his house in Norridge, Cook County, Illinois. True crime junkies may recognize some of the highly publicized cases, but I’ve made sure to include lesser-known, equally unsettling crimes. Not all of the cases included in this audiobook are the most violent in state history. While serial murderers are covered, I’ve also included some cases that are unsettling because of the gnawing sense of injustice they leave.
