One of those 200 cards found its way into the hands of Frank Capra, who shared it with Jimmy Stewart, and the film that resulted became the holiday tradition we cherish today.

Eric Walrond (1898 - 1966), in his only book, injected a profound Caribbean sensibility into black literature. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button tells the tale of Benjamin, son of Roger Button, who was born as an old man and who, over the course of his life, miraculously ages backward. Beginning life as an octogenarian in his crib, Benjamin grows "older" while his body, conversely, appears younger and younger with each passing birthday. The story takes us through Benjamin's entire life: his difficult adolescence, his marriage, life as a soldier and father, and, ultimately, his inevitable descent into infanthood.

Throughout Proust's life, nine of his short stories remained unseen - the writer never spoke of them. Why did he choose not to publish them along with the others? One possible answer is that he was developing his themes in preparation for his masterpiece, In Search of Lost Time; another is that the stories were too audacious - too near to life - for the censorious society of the time. Premchand's literary career started as a freelancer in Urdu.
