El filósofo Epicteto, en una división de cuatro libros, nos presenta sus disertaciones o discursos, los cuales se basan en reflexiones y meditaciones para el buen vivir. Se consignan temas éticos, morales, religiosos y familiares; como también actitudes y comportamientos humanos que se deben evitar, para no caer en una vida vacía y decadente. Epicteto toma como referencia a personajes y deidades de la antigua Grecia, para realizar una construcción discursiva mucho más impactante, orientada siempre hacia la filosofía de vida.

The Critique of Practical Reason was published in 1788, seven years after Immanuel Kant's major work, Critique of Pure Reason. Gaius Musonius Rufus was a Roman Stoic philosopher of the first century AD. He has been referred to as the Roman Socrates and is also remembered for being the teacher of Epictetus.
