The intention of this book is to open up a space for reflection and awareness of some aspects of the vast topic of female psychology, romantic relationships, and regaining your personal power by opening your heart to yourself. The central focus is the subconscious dynamics of female spirituality and the basic male and female archetypes, along with their strengths, fears, and possibilities. This understanding is valuable in order for every partner to become a complete personality who can accept their strengths, as well as their shadow aspects—those that we hide from ourselves.

Self and Identity: The Basics is a jargon-free and accessible introduction that draws on key theories and ideas in social psychology to explore the ways that other people affect our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Highlighting selfhood as a function of identity, the book shows that it is our relationships with others in our social world that largely determine who we are. It considers the philosophical and psychological context in which ideas about selfhood have developed and reviews the ways that the people around us, and the groups that we belong to, affect who we are.
