This book is the fourth volume of a study on the development of the American social welfare state since 1934. This volume covers the first two years of the administration of President Donald Trump and the rise of the Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders and what it means for any further development of America's social welfare state.

The motivating idea of a Universal Basic Income (UBI) is radically simple: give people cash and let them do whatever they want with it.
