A young hustler named Takuru Yang, a.k.a. Ty, narrates his upbringing in The Cities. He describes a world where gifted humans, called "highbreds", are an oppressed minority, kept in check by advanced technology. On his journey to become "King of the Streets", Ty comes in contact with many highbreds and helps build a team of assassins called Kill Dolls.

Michael just found out his one-night stand was an A.I. An infectious one, he helped create, with evil complications. When game creator, Michael Sutter, debuts his new property that starts new users as infected supervillains called Supervillain, Me, it will skyrocket to the top of the gaming charts. Thus, allowing Michael to showcase his work at the largest comic convention in San Diego. But he will find more than just swag and merch among the superhero/villainous cosplayers cascading the streets and convention halls.

Thea Mendel is living in her car because there's a ghost in her house. At a Halloween party, she meets someone who believes her, a boy with green eyes and ghosts of his own named Thomas. Someone wants to do worse to Thea than kill her, and in order to find out who they are and what they want, the two of them will have to deal with a clan of unusually helpful vampires, unexpected Shoggoths, and all the weird that Rhode Island can throw at them. And that's a lot of weird.

Even as the mysterious Baltar Stern shares ancient wisdom and offers hope, a new menace silently emerges in the woods outside of town.

Discovering that they are now endowed with strange superpowers, the four teens dub themselves “Freaks”, the very name their tormentors used to ridicule them. The Freaks must fight to save the lives of family and friends now in mortal peril and thwart a secret government task force that appears to be hunting them.
