The books of the Bible were written at different times by different authors over a period of approximately 1,500 years from around 1400 BC through 90 AD. Most historians agree that John Mark is the author of this account of the good news and it may have been one of the first Gospels written. This could have been due to the fact that during the time in history around 65 AD, Christians in Rome were experiencing great persecution. "Le Siracide" tient son nom de son auteur, Jésus Ben Sira. L'ouvrage est un mélange de deux genres littéraires : tantôt des "proverbes", tantôt des développements structurés qui proposent des réflexions sur un sujet. Il s'agit toujours de la "Sagesse", représentée comme une personnification de la Sagesse divine.

"Le 2e livre des Chroniques" est un livre de l'Ancien Testament. Il suit "Le 1er livre des Chroniques", qui retrace l'histoire du monde de la Création à la royauté de David. À l'origine ces deux livres n'en formaient qu'un, appelé "Livres des Chroniques", mais ils ont été divisés probablement pour des raisons d'encombrement.

"Le 1er livre des Chroniques" est un livre de l'Ancien Testament. Dans le canon hébreu originel, le 1er et le 2e livres des Chroniques étaient assemblés dans un ouvrage, "Les livres des Chroniques".
