'The Man with the Twisted Lip' is one of 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. Dr Watson is called upon by a friend of his wife to assist in the retrieval of her husband from an opium den. When he arrives at the den, he discovers Holmes disguised as an old man. The mystery deepens when the husband is nowhere to be found, and his coat - heavy with coins - is found in the river Thames beside the building.

The story was first published in the Strand Magazine in December 1891. Doyle ranked "The Man with the Twisted Lip" 16th in a list of his 19 favorite Sherlock Holmes stories.
