Major Richard J. "Dick" Meadows is renowned in military circles as a key figure in the development of the U.S. Army Special Operations. Robert Howard grew up in poverty in a small town in Alabama, with a strong sense of faith and determination. Father Vincent Robert Capodanno was a US Navy chaplain killed in Vietnam in 1967 with his Marine search unit in Operation Swift. Outnumbered 2,500 to 500 Marines, he was killed protecting a corpsman who was administering first aid to a soldier.

Tracks: Memoirs of a Vietnam Veteran is the amazing true story of a young boy in high school who decides to become a United States Marine, knowing he would go to Vietnam. This book describes boot camp and infantry training. He is placed in tanks, something he had never dreamed of serving in. He then ventures on a Mediterranean cruise. He becomes a sergeant and a tank commander and is sent to Vietnam. His first full day in Vietnam almost became his last.

This memoir is based on handwritten letters, cards, and newspaper clippings sent between Carole and Bill Wagener from September 1968 to August 1969. The vernacular is accurate to that time, using words that are no longer politically correct.

Every Weapon I Had is an inspiring tale of valor and sacrifice, set against the backdrop of major escalations in both the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights movement. It is also a story of deferred honor and delayed recognition; Davis earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his actions, but his nomination for the Congressional Medal of Honor was repeatedly “lost.” No official reason has ever been given for this oversight, but those who fought to correct it believe that it was motivated by racial prejudice. Davis was finally awarded the Medal in 2023, 58 years after the battle.
