 三津木六兵には秘密がある。子供の頃に負った右肩の怪我、その傷痕がある日突然しゃべりだしたのだ。人面瘡という怪異であるそれを三津木は「ジンさん」と呼び、いつしか頼れる友人となっていった。
そして現在、相続鑑定人となった三津木に調査依頼が入る。信州随一の山林王である本城家の当主・蔵之助の死に際し遺産分割協議を行うという。相続人は尊大な態度の長男・武一郎、享楽主義者の次男・孝次、本城家の良心と目される三男・悦三、知的障害のある息子と出戻ってきた長女・沙夜子の四人。さらに家政婦の久瑠実、料理人の沢崎、顧問弁護士の柊など一癖ある人々が待ち構える。
